While Anakin Skywalker was the Jedi Order's prophesized Chosen One, he strangely fits an ancient Sith prophecy as well in the Star Wars galaxy.
In Star Wars' non-canon stories now known as Legends, the Sith had their own prophecy about a Chosen One that potentially foreshadowed Anakin Skywalker. Known as the Sith'ari, this prophecy was fulfilled by the Old Republic's Darth Bane, though there are key similarities where Anakin fits as well, despite being the Jedi Order's Chosen One. As such, it's possible that the Force is cyclical in nature, supporting a key belief held by Star Wars creator George Lucas.
Following the destruction of the Sith Empire during the Old Republic, with Darth Bane as the sole survivor, Bane freed himself from the Sith's constant infighting and the limits of the previous regime. Likewise, he had a direct hand in ensuring their destruction, believing that the only way the Sith could endure and survive was through his Rule of Two: "Two there should be. No more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it.
