In The Chronicles of Riddick, the Lord Marshal holds Riddick accountable for a prophecy foretelling his death when it's another Furyan entirely.
The Chronicles of Riddick expanded the sci-fi world of Pitch Black by introducing Zhylaw, the Lord Marshal , a powerful villain with a personal vendetta against Riddick and the Furyans, but a recent theory proposes that the prophecy driving the Lord Marshal to kill him was actually about someone else. The leader of the fanatical Necromongers, the Lord Marshal, led his zealot followers on a crusade to convert other races to their dark philosophies or destroy them.
The Purifier takes a vested interest in Riddick from the start and protects him from both the Lord Marshal and Dame Vaako, who would rather see her husband, Commander Vaako , lead the Necromonger Empire. Fortunately, for all his influence, The Purifier is seen as weak and subservient by the Lord Marshal and the Vaakos and hardly a threat, putting him in the perfect position to be underestimated.
