Despite the large shadow cast over the movie by— various charges of assault, harassment and burglary in multiple incidents over the last few years — the actor successfully disarms the audience in those two hours and 24 minutes.
That’s what happens with movies and the empathy they generate. Films are inherently distracting, and this one, bloated with cameos, asks us to suspend any unease with the lead actor. However, suspension of disbelief does not mean total suspension of reality.
