The amount of funding has also risen dramatically, just in the last year. VFS estimated that total investments in eVTOL companies from 2010 to 2020 was $4.5 billion. The 2021 figure, Hirschberg said, was more than $10 billion, thanks to firms like Joby, Archer, Blade and Vertical Aerospace going public, while private investors also pour R&D money into others.
