An impressive piece of The Batman 2 fan art imagines Gotham City's Wayne Tower having been set ablaze by a mystery villain. Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman introduced Robert Pattinson's take on the Caped Crusader, which ended up being a hit with audiences and critics alike. The new movie sees Batman facing off against Paul Dano's Riddler, and also features a number of other iconic franchise characters, including Catwoman , Lt. Jim Gordon , the Penguin , and Alfred .
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Although Reeves' follow-up movie is likely a few years off, a new piece of The Batman 2 fan art from artist Jaxson Derr on Instagram imagines that the destruction of Wayne Tower could play an important role in the sequel. The art sees Pattinson's Batman walking through Wayne Tower as it burns to the ground around him with an unnamed villain having written “Where Is Mr. Wayne?” on the wall.
If Reeves chooses not to go with Joker or Mr. Freeze, however, there are a number of characters from the comics who would also make for compelling Batman villains. Scarecrow was disturbingly brought to life in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, but the character would arguably feel even more at home in Reeves' more downtrodden and grimy version of Gotham City.
There's a wealth of source material to draw from when it comes to The Batman 2, and it's possible that Reeves will choose a villain that's never been brought to life on the big screen before. The writer and director may also choose to feature multiple villains at once, thus making the odds against Pattinson's Batman even greater.
