The Avengers was the debut of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and through it, the movie marked a surprising first in Hulk’s history outside the comic book pages. Although the MCU’s official version of Bruce Banner and the Hulk is that of Mark Ruffalo, the character made his debut in this connected universe four years before The Avengers in The Incredible Hulk, which even though has become one of the most forgettable superhero movies, it’s an official part of the MCU.
