University of the Incarnate Word will introduce new football head coach G.J. Kinne during a press conference on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021. UIW President Thomas M. Evans and Athletic Director Richard Duran presented their latest head football coach to the university - their fourth head coach since the inception of the school's football program. Kinne, 33, was in his first season at UCF after working as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Hawaii in 2020.
Kinne started with the line of scrimmage, adding six offensive linemen and five defensive linemen. The Bobcats also targeted the perimeter with six defensive backs and four wide receivers, while welcoming two tight ends, two running backs, a linebacker and a quarterback in Arkansas transfer Malik Hornsby.
One of Kinne’s primary goals has been rebuilding the program’s relationships with Texas high school coaches, and he said he plans to “recruit Texas like our hair is on fire” to set the roster’s foundation.
