The Rangers placed Dunning on the MLB’s paternity leave list on Saturday afternoon and recalled Cody Bradford from Triple-A Round Rock.
Dunning was elevated to the starting rotation after Jacob deGrom landed on the injured list in April with right elbow inflammation. The 28-year-old right-hander allowed just four earned runs in 22 and two-thirds innings pitched as a starter this season. and could theoretically take Dunning’s spot in the rotation on Sunday, though Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Saturday’s game will determine who starts in the series finale.
