More than sixty Texas House Democrats left the state overnight to Washington, DC, in order to block a voting restrictions bill by denying a Republican quorum. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has threatened to arrest the legislators when they returns to the state.

This year’s attempt faces tough odds in the more conservative Senate. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who leads the chamber, did not respond to a request for comment. The measure needs to survive one more vote in the House before heading to the Senate and on to the governor's desk for final approval. “I’ve worn it naturally every day this session," she said,"and I’ll be wearing it that way when we pass the CROWN Act.”
