Texas center Lauren Ebo and Texas guard Audrey Warren, beat Kansas State in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals and will advance to face Iowa State.KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Texas moved one step closer to nabbing a No. 2 seed in next week’s NCAA Tournament, downing Kansas State 72-65 in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament at Municipal Coliseum.
The third-seeded Longhorns broke open a tight game with a 10-0 run to close the third quarter. All that scoring came in the span of 100 seconds, with Texas drilling six straight shots while Kansas State floundered on both ends. The Wildcats slashed Texas’ lead to seven with 3:39 remaining and five with 11.2 seconds left but couldn’t get any closer.
Senior center Lauren Ebo led Texas with 17 points on 5-for-7 shooting and nine rebounds. She was one of four Longhorns who scored in double figures, joining freshman guard Rori Harmon junior guard Aaliyah Matharu and senior guard Joanne Allen-Taylor .Texas will face No. 2 seed Iowa State Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Big 12 semifinals.
