Detectives are searching for a 31-year-old former teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl, and an Osceola County Sheriff's deputy helped him escape.
The detective issued an arrest warrant on Omar Ayala, A former teacher and soccer coach at Okeechobee High School accused of having sex with a minor. The detective noticed Deputy Dominguez used a law enforcement database to repeatedly run Ayala's name. Deputy Dominguez told the detective he ran the name after pulling Ayala over for a traffic stop.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from a detective with the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office regarding Deputy Arturo Dominguez on April 20. The detective issued an arrest warrant on Omar Ayala, A former teacher and soccer coach at Okeechobee High School accused of having sex with a minor. The detective noticed Deputy Dominguez used a law enforcement database to repeatedly run Ayala's name. Deputy Dominguez told the detective he ran the name after pulling Ayala over for a traffic stop.
Dominguez later admitted he was searching for an active warrant and that he lied to the Okeechobee detective about the traffic stop. "When one of my deputies violates the law, it feels personal to me, because my deputy didn't just commit a crime," said Osceola County Sheriff Marco R. Lopez. "He violated public trust and the trust of all over hardworking and dedicated members of the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.
