We were at the Tales of the Jedi panel at StarWarsCelebration and based on the reactions, this new animated series is going to be essential viewing for Star Wars fans. How can you not love Baby Ahsoka? Our takeaways here:

Based on its Star Wars Celebration panel, new animated series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi looks to be essential viewing for audiences. Well before The Mandalorian became the crown jewel of Disney+'s originals lineup, Star Wars had a presence on the small screen via animated shows such as The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Dave Filoni was the one who spearheaded Lucasfilm's animation projects, but more recently he's shifted gears to working in live-action via his work on The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. However, he still hasn't lost his interest in using the animation medium to tell new stories in the Star Wars galaxy. Back in April, it was announced there would be a new animated anthology show titled Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, but very few details were revealed.

With the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase and Mando+ panels also taking place at Celebration Anaheim, Tales of the Jedi wasn't the premier attraction at the convention, but it was still important for the show's panel to deliver. It was essentially tasked with putting an all-new show on the radar, and Lucasfilm was banking on Tales of the Jedi landing with attendees .

It's a good sign Tales of the Jedi seems to be on many viewers' radars. Much like The Clone Wars and Rebels before it, the new show aims to expand Star Wars canon and flesh out aspects the movies simply didn't have time for. Seeing Count Dooku's days as a Jedi should prove to be very fascinating, especially since Tales of the Jedi also features Liam Neeson returning as Qui-Gon Jinn, Dooku's Padawan.
