Tim Stutzle and DeBrincat scored for the Senators in regulation. Jake DeBrusk also scored for the Bruins, while Swayman faced 33 Senators shots before the shootout. DeBrincat put the Senators up 2-1 on a breakaway with 3:33 remaining in the second period. Only seconds after the Senators escaped a potential too many men on the ice penalty, the Bruins coughed up the puck in the neutral zone and DeBrincat slipped behind the Bruins defence. From there, he froze Swayman before lifting the puck upstairs, continuing a hot streak that has seen him score at least one point in 11 of his past 12 games. During that stretch, he has scored six goals and 14 assists.
DeBrusk then tied the game thanks to a fortunate bounce. After missing his original shot, DeBrusk drove hard to the net and was in the right place as the puck landed directly on his stick after hitting the back boards.
