The crash left a 68-year-old Sayreville woman dead.
The driver of an SUV who left the scene of a deadly crash last year in Pemberton was sentenced this week to five years in state prison, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday.Pemberton Township Police DepartmentOfficers discovered that one of the drivers, 68-year-old Sayreville resident Carmen Gonzalez of Sayreville, had been killed by the impact, but could not find the the driver of the other car, authorities said.
Christopher Robles, 27, of Camden, was identified as the driver who fled. The crash happened after Gonzalez’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck Robles’ car, officials said. Robles was arrested in September and has been held in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly since that time. Robles pleaded guilty last month to leaving the scene of a fatal accident in exchange for the five-year prison term that was handed down earlier this week, the office said.
