The suspect is accused of walking into a Dollar General with the BB gun tucked into his waistband and walking out with a package of toilet paper.
AKRON, Ohio — A man is facing multiple criminal charges after police say he walked into a Dollar General store armed with what appeared to be a handgun and took a package of toilet paper.
According to police, the suspect, identified as Rodney Willis, 39, entered the store at 19 N. Arlington St. in the Middlebury neighborhood at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Willis had a suspected firearm in his waistband and demanded to talk with the store’s manager, police say. Willis, who reportedly appeared to be intoxicated, walked to the rear of the store and took a pack of toilet paper, all while keeping a hand on the suspected gun, workers tell police. He then walked out of the store.
Police arrested Willis without incident at a residence on the 800 block of Bank Street. A BB gun was found next to where Willis was found sleeping, police say. Police say Willis is accused of making threats last month to rob the store. He was booked into the Summit County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, and theft.
