Surging Cypress Woods baseball team looks to keep momentum going in first state tournament
Cypress Woods players have had plenty to cheer about this season. Two more wins this week in Round Rock would bring the Wildcats their first state championship.Cypress Woods has been one of the most dominant baseball teams in the state this season, and the Wildcats are hoping to continue that momentum later this week at the UIL state tournament.
It will be the first state appearance for the Wildcats, who are the first squad from Cy-Fair ISD to make the tournament since Cypress Ranch in 2018. The district has not produced a state champion since Cypress Ranch in 2015.claiming the Region II championship Cypress Woods defeated Tomball Memorial, Oak Ridge, Klein Oak, Heath and The Woodlands in the previous rounds to punch its ticket to Round Rock. The Wildcats have outscored their 42 opponents 310-92 over the entire season.
While Cypress Woods’ senior group has proven its leadership ability, the players certainly have the talent to go with it.
