A new look at Jensen Ackles in the upcoming Supernatural spinoff The Winchesters has been released. Supernatural was a TV series created by The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, that ran for 15 seasons from 2005 to 2020. The show became a massive success, and as of season 11, became the longest-running American live-action fantasy TV series of all time. The series came to an end in November of 2020, with an impressive catalog of 327 episodes total.
While several spinoff series of Supernatural were tested and ultimately failed, it was announced in June of 2021 - less than a year after Supernatural ended - that a prequel series entitled The Winchesters was in development. The series is executive produced by Ackles, who starred in Supernatural as Dean Winchester.
Though Dean will serve as The Winchesters' narrator, the new image teases seeing more of Dean's life as well. Despite Dean's tragic death in Supernatural's finale, fans will get to see more of the elder Winchester brother in episodes to come. Alongside following John and Mary's story, The Winchesters will also feature hunters Latika and Carlos, who are embarking on a mission to uphold their families' legacies.
With Supernatural having been so beloved among fans, many are eager to see The Winchesters hit TV this October. While Kripke's Supernatural spinoffs had a bad habit of never taking off, Ackles' involvement in the prequel series is reassuring to fans, as no one knows the Winchester family better than Dean Winchester himself.
