Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says there will be 100% coverage of rainfall by Sunday with flooding concerns.
“Keep an eye to the sky and today a few strong storms may develop if we can realize enough sunshine. That’s the key. Again, there will be a lot of showers and thunderstorms over the Gulf producing some cloud cover over the area. But it looks to me at this point anyway that we may have enough sunshine today to trigger some heavy storms.”, said Buresh.Through Sunday, rainfall amounts should average 1 to 3 inches but locally a half foot or more.
Temperatures will stay below 90 as the storms persist.Hurricane Earl is just east of Bermuda, bringing high winds and rain to the island. Earl is also elevating our seas/surf at our local coast. As Earl moves away into the open ocean, our seas will decrease especially by Sunday/Monday. A low pressure system in the Central Atlantic may try to become the next depression/named storm as it stays out to sea.
