Chris Paul will miss a 12th straight game Friday against Houston (5-16) at Footprint Center with what the Suns (16-5) are calling a sore right heel.
“That’s it,” he said. “I always try to be honest and direct. If it was something more, we would tell you. It’s just a sore heel.”
The Suns have gone 8-3 without Paul as they’re on a six-game winning streak. Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton scored a combined 81 points in Phoenix’s 132-113 home victory Wednesday over Chicago. Booker scored a season-high 51 points to mark his fourth career game of scoring at least 50 while Ayton extended career-best string of double-doubles to seven with a 30-point, 14-rebound effort.
“I think all of these moments, opportunities are going to help us in the future when you are able to do this without Chris, it makes you think about the potential of our team as we go forward,” Suns coach Monty Williams said after Wednesday’s game. “I think they would say the same thing. If not for the spacing on the backside, it doesn’t open it up for those two to play the way they did together .
