The northern part of New Jersey is more likely to see thunderstorms on Tuesday as the stormy pattern continues.
It’ll be another hot, humid day with temperatures reaching the upper 80s and low 90s by this afternoon, according to theWhile there’s a chance of a stray shower this morning, we should remain mostly dry for the majority of the day. Once again, though, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible later this afternoon.It’s unclear where the storms will set up, but the weather service said the best chances are along the I-95 corridor and in the northwestern counties of New Jersey.
“Heavy downpours will be a concern, along with isolated severe weather,” the National Weather Service said in its morning forecast discussion. Rain should taper off through the evening, although there’s a chance of pop-up storms after midnight. Hot, humid conditions in New Jersey on Tuesday might trigger scattered thunderstorms later in the day.“Can’t rule out at least nuisance flooding, with a slight risk of flash flooding where multiple storms with heavy downpours move over the same areas,” according to the weather service’s New York office, which covers Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union and Passaic counties.in effect until midnight for 16 of the state’s 21 counties. The alert doesn’t apply to the five northeast counties.
Storm chances increase again on Thursday with highs in the mid 80s. Friday is likely to bring more rain and stormy weather.
