Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel workers, following a day of unproductive bargaining talks, will go on strike starting Wednesday, just hours before the start of Comic-Con’s preview night, the union confirmed late Tuesday night .
The Hilton Bayfront is wrapped with a building advertisement for the FX TV series “American Horror Story” during Comic-Con 2022. Bates said the Hilton’s offer of a $2.50-an-hour increase was to be over an 18-month period but it was contingent on the union agreeing to drop its demand for daily housekeeping of rooms. Unite Here estimates that the practice of not having rooms cleaned daily has resulted in 30 percent fewer hours for housekeepers.
