Seattle-based Starbucks is giving its business in the heart of downtown Naperville a makeover in order to provide more of the customary coffeehouse fare customers have come to expect.

The downtown Naperville Starbucks at Jefferson Avenue and Main Street has been temporarily shut down so it can be converted from a Starbucks Reserve to a traditional Starbucks coffeehouse.

Employees at the downtown location were given the opportunity to transfer to a new opportunity with Starbucks. The move down the street and change to a Starbucks Reserve in 2021 was met with much ballyhoo when it opened in that spring amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides offering a specialty Starbucks Reserve brewed coffee and espresso menu, the restaurant featured breakfast sandwiches, pastries, avocado toast, salads, soups, pizzas, meat and cheese boards, bread and desserts.

The Reserve, however, did not offer many of the popular blended beverages and seasonal lattes offered by traditional Starbucks cafes.
