Star Wars confirms someone other than Luke could have beaten Palpatine. In Star Wars: Revelations, Vader just got a glimpse of possible timelines, showing Lady Qi'ra could have toppled Palpatine. The possibility shakes what fans know of the Dark Side.

This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Revelations #1!Palpatine is Star Wars' ultimate threat, only ultimately stopped by Luke Skywalker's redemption of his apprentice Darth Vader, but it turns out the galaxy didn't actually need a Jedi to defeat the Sith. The history of Star Wars is one of an almost-unending war between the light and dark sides of the Force.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Palpatine's true genius lay in his ability to weaponize the dark side. He understood that every person in the galaxy contributes to the balance of the Force, and that every choice tips the balance towards the light side or towards the dark. The Emperor created a system that would encourage every individual to make choices according to their own self-interest, and he positioned himself so he would benefit from this.

How Could Palpatine Be Defeated Using The Dark Side? The future is always in motion, and Qi'ra defeat of Palpatine was only a possibility when this vision was shared. Ultimately, things turned out very different. Still, it is striking that there was even a potential timeline where the Sith could be defeated by the dark side. It's likely this is because Qi'ra used a Sith weapon called the Fermata Cage, one that had been used to imprison an ancient Sith outside time long ago.

It's worth considering that the fall of Palpatine was not necessary a loss for the dark side. While Darth Sidious was one of the most evil men to ever live, Qi'ra was no angel, and especially since her play depended on a new Sith contender, it's unlikely that her triumph would have turned the galaxy towards the light.
