Standoff with possibly armed person prompts shut down of streets, businesses in Carlsbad [Breaking]
An overnight standoff with a person experiencing a mental health crisis and who may have a gun prompted street and business closures in Carlsbad on Friday.
The standoff started about 7:15 p.m. Thursday after police received reports of a person “in distress” in an office building parking lot on Loker Avenue West, a police spokesperson said.Businesses from 2762 Loker Avenue West to Palomar Road have been closed as the standoff continued into Friday morning.
