“We are just trying to bring joy to them, bring hope,” Jones said. “They are our neighbors. We want to be here for them, be with them, try to help in any way possible. No one should have to go through what they are going through. It’s really tough to even think about. You can only imagine what it’s like to be in their shoes, especially the kids.”
“The biggest win for us is being here with you all,” Spurs chief impact officer Kara Allen told the crowd packed into the gym in an emotional greeting before the practice began. Being able to see Ginobili, who serves as the Spurs’ special advisor to basketball operations, was huge for Monica Flores and her daughter, a fourth-grader who was at the school when the shooting occurred.
