Liftoff is slated for 9:40 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Nov. 1 from Launch Complex 39-A.
However, Playalinda Beach, a popular public access launch viewing spot, will remain closed for safety concerns for all Falcon Heavy launch attempts. For the first time, the center core will be intentionally discarded into the Atlantic Ocean rather than attempt landing on a drone ship. The U.S. Space Force's Space System Command said in a release last week that it is due to"the fuel consumption needed for the demanding mission profile."
Dubbed USSF-44, Tuesday's classified mission was initially on the launch docket for 2020. Another national security mission, USSF-52, was to have followed not too long after.
