The Sopranos star Michael Imperioli has clarified an Instagram post that went viral on social media.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Now, Imperioli took to Instagram again to clarify his deleted post. Read the post below: After stating that the post was "a satirical and symbolic take on where blatantly discriminatory Supreme Court decisions are taking us as a nation," Imperioli also explained that he vehemently opposes all forms of "hate, prejudice, and bigotry." The actor ended his post by saying it did its job, as some people did not understand the irony it was trying to express.
Michael Imperioli's Initial Instagram Post Explained While Imperioli's original post has been deleted, the actor referenced the Supreme Court ruling that allowed a web designer to discriminate against a homosexual customer. At the end of his now-deleted post, Imperioli "thanked" the Supreme Court "for allowing me to discriminate and exclude those who I don't agree with and am opposed to. USA! USA!" which was an explicit remark to what the Supreme Court had ruled.
Even if some people did not perceive Imperioli's comments, it was clear that his initial comments were meant to be ironic. Instead, the actor wanted to exemplify what the Supreme Court had done by explaining that this is what they are allowing, targeted discrimination of a marginalized community across the United States.
