Some Insiders Believe Donovan Mitchell To Knicks 'An Inevitability' - RealGM Wiretap
The New York Knicks have been tied to a trade for Donovan Mitchell for multiple years and the Utah Jazz now appear set to put him on the market.
"The New York Knicks have eight tradable first round picks and a need and a desire for a star player like Donovan Mitchell, who is from the New York area," said Brian Windhorst."Some people believe this is an inevitability. It's just a matter of what price can be negotiated. Other teams are interested in Mitchell and it can go in a different direction. They can keep Mitchell, or at least posture they're going to keep Mitchell.
Windhorst adds that"People feel that everything the Jazz are doing right now is just an effort to elicit the best offer they can get from the Knicks." If the Jazz continue to seek an offer similar to the one they received from the Minnesota Timberwolves for Rudy Gobert that was heavy on future first round picks, the Knicks are unlikely to be beaten in an offer. The Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets are the two other teams considered most likely to trade for Mitchell.
Mitchell has been an All-Star in each of the past three seasons and can't become a free agent before 2025.
