Tuckerton held its Independence Day parade Monday morning.
Lori M. Nichols | NJ Advance Media for NJ.comParadegoers — many dressed in red, white and blue, most waving American flags — lined Main Street in Tuckerton Monday morning to watch the Tuckerton Independence Day parade.
VFW Post 12173 Kelley/Oliveira/Stanton Police Memorial Post in Little Egg Harbor Township led the parade, with applause from the crowd as they walked along Route 9.Lori M. Nichols | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com Many local groups — such as the American Legion, Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, Pinelands Soccer Association, Pinelands Junior Wildcats Football and Cheer, and Tuckerton United Methodist Church — participated in the parade. Kids happily picked up candy tossed along the street and cooled off with ice pops handed out from participants.
This year’s parade grand marshals were Tuckerton Mayor Susan Marshall, Little Egg Harbor Township Mayor John Kehm, Bass River Township Mayor Deborah Buzby Cope and Eagleswood Township Mayor Michael Pasternak.Lori M. Nichols | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com The parade concluded with loud sirens from many local fire companies, including Mystic Island, West Tuckerton, Parkertown, Eagleswood, and New Gretna.
