Jeryl Brunner: Throughout Epiphany I felt this sense of fear, almost as if something very terrifying could happen at any moment. Or am I over-thinking this? And at the same time, I thought these are friends gathering outside the city for dinner and conversation. Why do you think there is something to fear? And why was that important to have that lurking at the surface?You are not overthinking this! Rituals open portals to the other side.
My training as an actor also gave me a solid foundation of technique, especially when it comes to language and stage craft. The combination between the linguistic demands of this play, Brian’s work is so musical it is almost like working in verse, and moving nine people around a thrust stage, allowed that foundation of technique to come into full force.
I first look for stories that move me. I go to the theater to be moved. I also look for stories that ask complex and fearless questions about how we live and allow us to see our lives differently. I thrive on variety and eclecticism. I like that I can work on so many different forms and with so many different tones.
