MLB: Mitch Haniger inches closer to return to San Francisco Giants but still no firm timetable, Gabe Kapler says
SAN FRANCISCO – Outfielder Mitch Haniger is inching closer to wearing the jersey that’s presently hanging in his locker in the San Francisco Giants clubhouse at Oracle Park.
Haniger, a Mountain View native who signed a three-year, $43 million contract with the Giants in December, was 3-for-7, including a solo home run, in his first two games with Sacramento on Tuesday and Wednesday. He had Thursday off. Michael Conforto, Mike Yastrzemski, Heliot Ramos, and Brett Wisely are the four Giants outfielders at the moment.Kapler said there also remains no timetable to activate outfielder Austin Slater . Slater had the day off Friday after he played in six consecutive games for Sacramento, where he went 5-for-15 with six RBI and three walks.
