Winds reached a maximum of 100 mph, and the storm tracked for less than half a mile before lifting, the weather service said.An EF-1 tornado touched down briefly in Rockwall County overnight, damaging several homes.
Images from the area show portions of roofs torn off of several homes and debris scattered in fields., the weather service said poles were also bent around a basketball court, several trailers were moved and a few trees were damaged. Frances Brown was awake inside her home when the tornado hit. The storm created a hole inside her attic and tore off a large piece of her roof.“That little noise all of the sudden was big, huge banging noises,” Brown told NBC5 about hearing the storm roll in. “I sat up straight in bed and said ‘Oh my god, we’re hit by a tornado.’ I’m thankful the house didn’t come down.”, with a category EF-0 being the least severe and a category EF-5 being the most severe.
