A Northern California man was sentenced for a murder he committed at age 17 — a brutal attack for which an innocent stranger served 15 years in prison.
Green, 17 at the time, had met Hylton’s 13-year-old daughter, Autumn Anker, in a park that evening in the community near Folsom Lake. He apparently followed her to the home where she was staying and, unknown to the girl, killed her mother. For 14 years, the case went unsolved. Then, in 1999, El Dorado County sheriff’s investigators announced they had arrested Ricky Davis on the testimony of Connie Dahl, the woman who had been his girlfriend in 1985. Davis adamantly maintained his innocence, but he was found guilty in 2005 and sentenced to 16 years to life in prison.
Five days after Davis’ release, Green, then 51, was arrested in Roseville. This year, he made a deal to plead no contest to second-degree murder, and the first-degree murder charge was dropped.
