Darrell Brooks, the man convicted of killing six people after driving through the 2021 Waukesha Christmas parade and injuring dozens more, has filed his notice of intent to appeal, according to court records.
Earlier this month, Judge Jennifer Dorow sentenced the Wisconsin man to six life sentences without the possibility of extended supervision. He was found guilty by the jury of all 76 criminal charges brought against him. The trial for Brooks was watched across the country after the tragedy grasped the nation's attention a year prior. Dorow made waves on social media for her handling of Brooks's misbehavior in the courtroom.This week, the judge's family revealed that she is planning to run for Wisconsin Supreme Court in the spring.
"It’s been so overwhelming to receive so much support and encouragement to consider running for the state Supreme Court,” she said.
