San Mateo Police announced Saturday the arrest of a 43-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a minor.

According to San Mateo Police, officers responded to the residence at 11:12 p.m. Thursday soon after receiving the report. When officers arrived, the suspect had already left the scene, police said. After ensuring the safety of the victim, officers began a search for the suspect that lasted into the following morning.
The suspect was ultimately discovered in the backyard of a house less than a quarter mile away at 7:40 a.m. on Friday, when he was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
