SAN JOSE — A shallow earthquake registering 3.5 magnitude rumbled underneath a South Bay county park but did not cause any injuries or visible damage, the U.S. Geological Survey said Sunday.

The quake struck at 4:55 p.m. at a depth of about 4.3 miles, and was centered under the Foothill and Hotel trails in the southern end of Joseph D. Grant County Park.USGS scientists have predicted a 63 percent chance of a magnitude 6.7 or larger quake striking the Bay Area in the next 30 years.
