on Wednesday, and according to local meteorologists, it hasn’t been this cold since the Victorian era. Wednesday morning, the temperature in downtown San Francisco was just 39 degrees, tying previous record-low March 1 temperatures in 1875 and 1966, the Bay Area National Weather Service office told SFGATE. Even though this is the time of year when cool, dry air typically passes through the region, these dramatic temperatures are quite uncommon. It’s “a bit on the extreme side since it's almost record-breaking cold,” Brayden Murdock, an NWS meteorologist, told SFGATE.
