This is the first exhibition in the United States for the renowned Mexican cartoonist
The bilingual exhibit “Trino’s World,” in collaboration with the Mexican consulate, opened last month and runs through July 5. It is also the first exhibition by a Mexican artist to be shown at the Comic-Con Museum, organizers said.
At the last edition of San Diego Comic-Con he was recognized with the Inkpot Awardfor his contributions to the comic world. He was alsoat the first Casa Mexico in Seaport Village — a four-day hospitality suite inaugurated last year during the convention — to celebrate Mexican popular culture. Trino’s work, defined by his particular humor, has been published in various Mexican newspapers such as La Jornada, Reforma, El Sol de México and the sports publication ESTO, among others.
“There are a lot of Mexicans who will come and see themselves in Trino’s cartoons,” said consul general of Mexico in San Diego, Carlos González Gutiérrez, who referred to the artist as “an institution.”
