High temperatures this week in greater San Antonio area abnormal for fall

The greater San Antonio area looks to be going backwards into summer this week, with no chance of rain over the next seven days, and higher temperatures than last week, according to the National Weather Service. “We’re expecting a completely dry week,” said Science and Operations Officer for the National Weather Service, Jon Zeitler. “We’ve got basically high pressure from near the surface over the state of Texas all the way to space, basically, which will suppress precipitation.”“We’re looking at a high of mid-to-upper 90s and a low temperature of lower 70s,” said Zeitler, explaining that these high temperatures are “a bit above normal” for this time of year.
The low humidity mornings of last week will subside into typical summer-days with few clouds in the sky. From humid mornings to hot afternoons, Zeitler recommends people stay hydrated and wear sunscreen, as the sun is still high in the position to create the potential for sunburns. “This weather isn’t abnormal for a typical summer day, but it is for this time in September,” said Zeitler.
