‘Crisis ready’: San Antonio’s Migrant Resource Center prepares for winter freeze, influx of migrants
Migrants paying their respects before a portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe have left coins from their home countries at the City of San Antonio’s Migrant Resource Center, 7000 San Pedro Ave., on Tuesday.While some people got help finding plane and bus tickets out of town at the Migrant Resource Center, others watched animated Spanish movies with their children, picked out a fresh set of clothes or grabbed a bite to eat.
Some visited the interfaith prayer room near the entrance of the center, with a few placing what little change they had into a small offering bowl. The center, which opened in July, is a stop for many migrants who have entered the United States at the Texas-Mexico border in hopes of gaining asylum.
