Despite a 2-6 start, the San Antonio Brahmas will reach the XFL postseason with a win Saturday in the Alamodome and an Arlington loss Sunday.

Defenders built a 17-point lead through three quarters of Sunday's game against the Arlington Renegades, San Antonio running back Jacques Patrick flipped his TV away from the ESPN broadcast, feeling comfortable the Brahmas were still alive in the XFL playoff chase.
“It’s pretty much win or go home. This is what makes football fun,” Patrick said. “The extra motivation, that little extra feeling. You have to do everything right, put everything into detail, go about it the right way. I’m excited about the opportunity. I know the guys are, as well.” The XFL’s third tiebreaker is strength of victory, and that’s where the Brahmas would pull ahead. Arlington and San Antonio both hold a pair of wins against Orlando and have one victory against each other. The Renegades’ other win came in the season opener against 2-7 Vegas, meaning a Brahmas’ win against the 8-1 Defenders on Saturday would give San Antonio the edge.
Both D.C. and Houston have already wrapped up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage for the XFL’s division title games April 29 and 30, opening the possibility that the Defenders or Roughnecks choose to lighten the burden on their standouts in preparation for the postseason.
