ICYMI: Samsung has two budget models for 2022: the Galaxy A53 5G and the Galaxy A33, but what are the differences and is it worth spending a bit more to get the A53 5G?...
Both being Galaxy A series phones, meaning budget devices, they are made using good old cost-cutting plastic all around, but still expect a solid, tight construction.
There is not much of a difference in size, and thanks to the plastic build both phones are lightweight for their class and quite comfy to carry in a pocket. Quite the relief, if you've ever carried around a Pro Max flagship these days. You also get IP67 water and dust protection on the A53 5G, so it can easily survive some rain or a drop in water, a feature that is seemingly be missing on the A33 5G model.
It's nice that both have image-based face recognition using the front camera. That, however, is not quite as secure as the in-screen optical fingerprint scanner used on the A53, and early rumors say the A33 might also use an in-screen fingerprint scanner this year, but that is yet to be confirmed.Battery life has always been excellent on the Galaxy A series and these two latest editions are expected to only continue that tradition.
