in 2011. This was a large randomized clinical trial that showed that annual lung cancer screening withreduced the risk of dying from lung cancer by 20% when compared to screening by chest x-ray. This was truly a landmark trial because at the time that it was reported, lung cancer screening using low-dose CT had not yet been recommended. Importantly, the results of this trial clearly demonstrated the survival benefit associated with lung cancer screening using low-dose CT.

. This was shown by Dr Christina Williamson out of Lahey. That was one of the earlier intervention looks. The false positive rate is 13% at baseline and 5% in follow-up years. As you point out, these numbers are very favorable compared to other screening studies. I think there are a lot of misconceptions about these, so it is important to get that information out there.
