Rush Propst is back among the ranks of Alabama high school football coaches. The former Hoover coach was introduced this afternoon as the associate head coach and athletic director at Coosa Christian in Gadsden.

Mark O’Bryant coached Coosa to the state semifinals a year ago and was named 1A Coach of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. Propst last coached in Alabama in 2007 when he led Hoover to a 6-6 record. He won five Class 6A titles with the Bucs, including four in a row from 2002-2005. He went 110-16 in nine years as head coach at Hoover.
He won a pair of state titles in 11 years as head coach at Colquitt County, Ga., racking up 119 more victories. He’s also been head coach at Ashville , Eufaula , Alba/Alma Bryant and Valdosta, Ga. .“I’m getting back in because I need to get back in,” he told. “I was a dad for two years. I enjoyed it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but I do want to get back into coaching.”
Propst reached 300 career wins at Valdosta.
