“I know that Dan really wants to continue to play,” O’Day said. “He brings such a value not only in the locker room, but also on the field. “He’s someone who has been there and has been through a lot of up-front situations and seen every defence and really is a student of the game and does a great job of communicating up front.
“By the same token, we also have to look at the situation as a whole and understand that, ‘Is there an opportunity with a younger player available?’ Or, ‘Do we have a player in-house who we think is the next Dan Clark?’ ““What I’m going to do is try to make the decision that’s best for the Roughriders for now and in the future,” O’Day said. “If that’s Dan, then you certainly won’t have any of the staff grumbling about it.
