Roughly Half Of Hybrid Employees Will Follow Their Boss Into The Office:
First, any organization implementing a hybrid work model should ensure it’s being consistently applied by leaders and team members alike. Any model where leaders believe the new operating norm doesn’t apply to them is asking for culture issues not far into the future. You can’t simply talk a good game about hybrid work; you must walk the talk as a leader, as an organization.
Think of it as a new form of presenteeism. For example, suppose the boss regularly goes into the office and ignores the organization’s hybrid model. In that case, employees might naturally believe they must be in the office to be seen, heard, or given a chance for plum assignments. Third, the emergence of an “us versus them” mentality is inevitable. There will be too many instances in which face-to-face meetings, hallway, and water cooler chatter become favorable to those in the office and ignorant of those working remotely. The at-home team members will not only be out of the loop, but they will also become jaded.
