The Lakers may not be the contender many envisioned at the beginning of the season, but...
Rockets Rookie guard Jalen Green, left, finished with a career-high 32 points, 19 of which came in the fourth quarter and overtime of the Rockets' win over the Lakers on Wednesday at the Toyota Center. So much had changed, but the night still felt special. The Lakers still have that. They still have LeBron James, a wonder at 37. They still fill an arena, with an electricity that comes with the largest throng of a visiting team’s fans who flock to another team’s home.
“That was fun,” Rockets coach Stephen Silas, allowing himself to savor a win, said. “That was so much fun. It was exciting and great for a packed house to see us play like that, and our team to respond to adversity, get down, come back, fighting and just coming up with huge defensive stops in the fourth quarter and overtime.
The Lakers are in many ways are a mess. They arguably are the NBA’s most disappointing team. But they are still a team that a bunch of kids can consider elite. “I don’t really look at it like that,” he said."I try to get better each game, take it year-by-year, take this summer, try to focus in on my body, focus in on my game and get better each year.”
“He has a great shot-making ability,” James said. “Everybody looks at his athletic ability, but his ability to make shots, he’s been doing this for quite a long time now, going back to high school. So, each and every game in this league, you get more and more comfortable with the speed. You get more and more comfortable with the system. You get more and more comfortable with how teams are playing you and I feel like he’s just getting better and better.
