Ron Grigg has resigned as Jacksonville University's women's track and field and cross country coach, according to a statement issued by the school, which cited 'concerning information shared online' about Grigg's treatment of student-athletes. More:
Ricker-Gilbert informed the team and staff on Saturday that Grigg was resigning and"was no longer an employee of Jacksonville University."
"We want our community to understand that the claims made by the student in the fall of 2021 were taken seriously," Ricker-Gilbert said in the statement."Less than two weeks into the course of our investigation, the student tragically passed away. We then engaged an outside, independent investigator to ensure an unbiased, thorough review."
Ricker-Gilbert said JU coaches and staff will also complete mandatory training"involving mental health and other issues, including, but not limited to, body image, nutrition, bullying, and building a healthy, supportive team culture."
