NEW ORLEANS — The Pelicans were missing their top two scorers and the face of the franchise they had been missing all season.They lacked intensity, effort and discipline. Pelicans center Jonas Valanciunas looked like a bearded school bully picking on the little kids, needing just 27 minutes to score 32 points while forcing the Rockets to send double-team help and opening the way for the Pelicans around him to choose between wide-open shots. That was enough for the Pelicans to lead 98-72 through three quarters without shooting particularly well. They had a lot of help.
“I don’t think our effort had anything to do with our turnovers,” Silas said. “It was poor decision more than that. I would say their size, the turnovers and the fouls were the main bullet points of the game.”
