As part of Rivian's development of accessories, the company focused on how to make this space usable in novel ways, and not just as a simple cubby for gear. An available slider, dubbed the Gear Tunnel Shuttle, is an optional way of loading and accessing this space. It has tie-down tracks and power outlets. This 6063 aircraft-grade anodized aluminum slide also serves as the foundation for Rivian's optional Camp Kitchen, and is included in the kitchen's $5,000 price.
The Camp Kitchen is a complete solution to cooking outdoors and is a modular three-piece design that locks into the Gear Tunnel Shuttle. Combining an induction cooktop, storage, and a water module that includes an electric water pump, faucet, collapsible sink, and four gallons of capacity, the Camp Kitchen also includes a carefully curated 30-piece Snow Peak cook set.
The 11-cubic-foot Gear Tunnel includes power outlets and can be accessed from either side of the vehicle through lockable, downward-opening doors. Rivian's Gear Shuttle Slide or Camp Kitchen are optional accessories for this space.The Gear Tunnel doors are rated to hold up to 300 pounds, which makes them a convenient step for reaching items on the roof and can even be used as a seat.
